Dear birthing people…

Writer's picture: Andrea RichardsonAndrea Richardson

“Dear birthing people,

Surrender to the pain. Don’t fight against it.”

While attending a Childbirth Education class of Erika Davis (@wholepregnancy) she spoke on reframing pain. That surrender to the pain: not holding onto the tension in the body, letting whatever screech, scream, vomit, poop up and out helps. It won’t make the pain go away, but at least you're not fighting against it.

Birthing parents, how do you plan to cope with pain during your vaginal birth? C-section birthing parents, how do you plan on coping with pain as you heal after your birth? Have you added those coping mechanisms to one of your birthing plans?
