Highlight!

Repost from @the_naabb

We want to highlight your work! Click the link in our bio to be featured on our weekly Birth Workers Spotlight.

At the NAABB, we recognize birth workers as those who provide emotional support and general care to pregnant people and their families during pregnancy and childbirth. We believe that Black birthing people have the right to professional birth workers during maternity care through maternity and postpartum care.

Examples of birth workers are birth assistants, perinatal advocates, doulas, midwives, OBGYNs, labor support persons, labor coaches, childbirth educators, and people who provide emotional support and general care and advice birthing people and families during pregnancy and childbirth.

We believe that Black birthing people have the right to professional birth workers during their maternity care. We know that birth workers play a significant role in addressing and reducing the Black maternal mortality rate. We look forward to highlighting birth workers in this series!

Maybe it’s due to post smexual trauma, having an emotionally or physically tough pregnancy or having experienced past pregnancy losses...
