Writer's picture: Andrea RichardsonAndrea Richardson

“Can a birth doula support a family during postpartum?”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Answer: Depends on the birth worker. There are some doulas who simply prefer to support families during birth only. Some of doulas support postpartum, as well. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

A birth client of mine asked if I’d support be willing to support them during their postpartum journey. Of course! I’d love to! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

As a doula, I love enlisting & activating community for the birthing family, finding them parenting resources, and facilitating postpartum rituals. It’s my job & joy to make sure they feel supported emotionally, physically and educationally weeks even months after they birth. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Has your birth doula supported during your postpartum journey? How long has your birth doula supported you?
