Burying your placenta

Repost from @doulachas

The burial of placenta can be traced back to many indigenous tribes across the world for millenia.

You can find depictions of placenta burials in artworks as well as documented journals spanning across a plethora of indigenous tribes.

.

Some cultures/tribes that have engaged in this sacred practice include:

-The Igbo

-The Navajo

-The Maori

-The Chinook ... among others.

Many of these cultures bury their placenta to connect their children to the earth, but the symbolism runs deeper and more significant for the individual.

.

Please remember when you engage in practices that are not linked to your culture, you must be careful/cautious with the intentions you put into those actions... you need to understand why you’re doing it.

.

What do you plan on doing with your placenta?

.

Maybe it’s due to post smexual trauma, having an emotionally or physically tough pregnancy or having experienced past pregnancy losses...
